Diana After The Bath, antique framed oil on canvas

An academic oil on canvas after François Boucher’s celebrated ‘Diana Leaving Her Bath’ of 1742. Diana is identified by her crescent-moon diadem and hunting attributes surrounding her, shown resting with her attendant after the hunt. The composition reflects the 18th-century Rococo fascination with classical mythology as an elegant setting for the female nude. This later interpretation retains Boucher’s intimate composition while using a darker, more atmospheric palette and freer handling.
