Napoleon III Crystal Inkwell with Gilt Bronze Mounts

A late 19th-century crystal inkwell with richly detailed gilt bronze mounts in the Napoleon III taste. Eagle motifs and scrolling ornament surround the square glass body, while a rounded, tiered lid covers the ink reservoir. The contrast between clear glass and warm gilding gives this small writing accessory a striking presence, beautiful displayed on a desk or among antique books.
