Pair of Gilt Bronze Framed Courting Scenes

Two romantic garden scenes in the 18th-century French taste, framed in gilt bronze with ribbon-bow crests. One depicts a lady in pink beside a gentleman in blue, with a small white dog nearby; the other shows a gentleman serenading his seated companion with a stringed instrument beneath the trees. Soft colors and leafy settings give the scenes an intimate, pastoral charm.

The frames date to the late 19th or early 20th century. One has convex glass and the other flat glass. They appear to have once been joined, with a remaining fragment of the connection on one frame. The paint medium and underlying surface have not been confirmed through the glass but seem to be oil/mixed medium on a thin canvas or parchment.
