Shagreen Embroidery Étui with Gilt Tools & Mercury Mirror

A late 19th-century shagreen embroidery étui with a shaped, textured exterior and a fitted interior holding delicate gilt sewing implements. A pleated golden lining surrounds a small mirror inside the lid, while the tools rest against a muted green lining framed with gold trim below. A beautifully detailed example of the care once given to even the smallest sewing accessories.

Note** Please note wear to the mercury glass mirror, with visible deterioration to the reflective backing.
